I have been working as a therapist and analyst for over 40 years so I am experienced in many areas such as: relationships, sexuality, gender issues, depression, eating disorders, work problems, study problems, and loss of a sense of meaning and purpose in life. I am also interested in working with people from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and members of sexual minorities.
I am an experienced supervisor, recognised by many training organisations. Supervision can be face-to-face or on the phone.
I am recognised internationally as one of the leading commentators from a psychotherapeutic perspective on political and social problems. My work on spirituality, the father, sexuality and countertransference has also been widely appreciated.
I am a past chair of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, a co-founder of Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility and also of the Alliance for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I was a Founder Board Member of the International Association for Relational Psychothoanalysis and Psychothrapy. I am Professor of Analytical Psychology at Essex and hold visiting chairs at New York, London, Roehampton and Macau Universities.
